#1
Hi,

I just like to let you all know about the project I've been working on.

For the Thermen Museum in Heerlen, the Netherlands I was making 3 lorica's & helmets.

That lorica pic didn't seem to work.... again:

I hammered all the loops & hooks from soft brass rod, not just folded plate
All the hinges were cut out of brassplate, folded&shaped by hammer & hand.

The 1mm mild plate I used was pre-hammered by an polished hammer (done with the assistance of a special made-by me for the purpose air-planishing hammer) to get rid of the industrial rolled-plate look and get a very good genuine pre-industrial look.

Bosses were stamped out of annealed brassplate on a leadblock with a handmade die.

Only parts I did not make by hand were the rivets.

For more pics, see my (Dutch) blog or visit my website.

Very nice. Glad to see you hammered the modern plate steel and planished it.

I'd like to why you upended the arm cut out of the top torso plate.

That's nice work Duco- but I would also point out that the outermost lesser shoulder guards are not rolled on any orignal artifac I've ever studied
