Glassblowing in the PAM Velzeke, Belgium
#1
The weekend on the 30th and 31rst of May 2009 is the second (and last) opprotunity to see the ROMAN GLASSMAKERS Mark Taylor & David Hill working on a reconstructed glass furnace in the PAM Velzeke (Belgium) [url:2xh5mxl4]http://www.pam-velzeke.be/. Vistors are very welcome!

This weekend is also the last opportunity to visit the exceptional Roman glass exhibition "Fragiel, glazen kostbaarheden uit het Romeinse Rijk" ("Fragil - gläserne Kostbarkeiten aus dem Römischen Reich") in the PAM Velzeke.

in the link you can see the pictures of the openings weekend, still in the winter as you see the snow flying in some of the pictures

Hi folks,

I was quite busy during the last months, that´s why I didn´t finish any reports on the Velseke gladssblowing event last May. But now I´ve put a small picture series abou the making of a ribbed bowl online:

More is to come...

Meanwhile, on the 12th to 13th September 2009 the PAM Velseke has the Open Monumentendag, so again two glassblowers (Francois Arnaud from France and Torsten Roetzsch from Germany) will work at the Roman glass furnace. Unfortunately the focus will not be on Roman glass.

Thanks for the pictures, Hans. But you didn´t get me!
;-) )

Although I expected a focus on medieval glass at the September-event at the Roman glass furnace of the PAM Velzeke [url:opau3js4]http://www.pam-velzeke.be/, the glassblowers Francois Arnaud (France) and Torsten Roetzsch (Germany; assisted by Marieken Duman from Belgium) tried quite a lot of different Roman shapes including multi-handled-bottles, ring-bottles, feeding-bottles and many more.

A small report (sorry, again only in German...) with a couple of pictures is online and some others will be added soon:
