to what extent did the romans make use of lightly armoured or unarmoured troops armed with javelins in the 1st- 2nd centuries AD.? <p></p><i></i>

You mean like Velites? Well, the fact that some tombstones show soldiers with multiple spears could indicate something of the sort:<br>
