The Roman gallery at the Museum of London
#1
I don't think this has been mentioned on RAT before. You can find Jenny Hall giving a guided tour of the Roman Gallery of the Museum of London on YouTube.

For those who are interested, I have also recently put up on Flickr my photos of the surviving (and accessible!) lengths of the Roman walls of London, which I followed when I did my recce for my Saxon Shore trip last year.

Thanks for posting Mike. I found the Museum of London very nice and good museum. I feel it is a bit of unknown compared to the BM, but surely worth a visit!

Very interesting and more or less unknown are the remains of the amphitheater of London in the basement of Guilhall Art Gallery. The pavement of the Guildhall Yard shows the outline of the amphitheater.

Or the Mithraeum, down the road from the amphitheatre

Or the Roman walls in Noble Street close to the Museum of London...

Subsequently I have acquired Ed Harris' new book Walking London Wall - he has been pretty thorough in tracking down all the bits of wall you can see (some require appointments, one is even in a cupboard!). Worth perusing if you are into it (as he points out, the wall is the second longest RB stone structure after Hadrian's Wall). Not only packed full of fact but readable, although let down a bit by back-of-the-envelope maps - why won't publishers pay for decent maps? Ah yes, I remember...
