==== 4 Bracer Rating for historically accuracy. The general story sticks to the traditional sparacus story, however the legions equipment is RATHER laughable! Leather segs, and again.. they LOVE the leather bracers!! Bring on the butch romans!! Imperial Shields... if you can even call them that.. and Helmets that can only be described as rusty lobster trooper helms!!
In fairness to the equipment accuracy i guess it probably had something to do with the "for TV" aspect of it, and the sheer volume of soldiers they have in some scenes, if you look that the video above. if you look at about 3:56 into it, and look close enough you can notice that alot of the legionaries dont have swords just shields!.. Do'h!
>>>>> PLASTIC spears, for weapon accuracy, dont think the spears are anything resembling hastas or pila!..
think possibly the only redeeming feature is that their archers look reasonable! but why they are marching in the same line as the legionaries towards the enemy im not too sure!!
it does get a *** (and a half) rating from me tho.. i am one for seeing past the grosse inaccuracies and its a generally enjoyable film, and does capture the spirit of the spartacus story, love the little twist at the end!. Doesnt come HIGHLY recommended, but might be slightly more enjoyable than Cyclops
