New Osprey Title:Imperial Roman Naval Forces 31 BC - AD 500
#1
Finally recieved this book. Seems to be quite an interesting source for anyone interested in doing an impression of a marine unit,
or just for someone looking for information of marine forces! Seems to be a lot of blue BTW
Will read it through before I comment further.
Anyone else in possession of this want to comment?

Hopefully this has not already been posted. I couldn't find a thread so I hope not.

Hi Byron

Well I have a copy! Big Grin

However I bought mine cheap last week from Amazon. It looks like I have not been sent any complimentary copies from Osprey either, as I should have had some well before they were available elsewhere.

Glad you like the book. I actually like the look of the Tribune and I will also look forward to seeing if anyone does a Carausius Impression!

Yes, I agree. The Tribune looks impressive. Not too keen on ther slightly later periods though. The marines? looting the Brothel
look like a pampered lot!!
I wouldn't mind doing a Marine impression, as I have plenty of blue tunics, so a few other items of blue would be cool!!

Hello Caius here I just purchased the book, Imperial Roman Naval forces 31 Bc-AD 500. i found it a good product that answerd many Questions about Roman marines. However a question has arisen. In the plate shore duty Late 1st Century/Early 2nd an Optio is shown with a muscle curias. I always thought this was used only by senior officers by this date 2nd century. I always thought the rank of optio was a junior rank, I have read similar to corperal. Also of intrest to me was a 1st century Legionary with no doubler. Thanks in advance cheers Caius(Thomas Razem)
