CHESTER CIRCA 110
#1
The 12th and 13th of June will see the power of Rome return to the fortress of Deva.

Amongst the units assembled will be Deva Victrix, Leg XX Hibernia, Leg VIII Augusta, Leg II Augusta and members of LegVI Victrix.

Along with Trinity Court Potteries, Echiniron, Oaklord and other traders Leg II Augusta will be setting up their Roman buildings in the Grovesnor Park and Gladiators will once again be fighting in the newly refurbished Amphitheater here at Chester.

In the city center will be an expression of Roman culture through dance and performance along with presentations of Art inspired by Rome featuring the stunning CGI of Take 27, showing the former splendor of Deva and stunning illustrations of Mr Graham Sumner and artifacts presented by the Grosvenor Museum

See http://www.romantoursuk.com/ for further details.

So Romans gather your harness and assemble with the units mentioned above and take part in this celebration of Roman might and power.

Any miles who are not part of the units mentioned above but who would like to take part please Pm me to see what we can sort.

Regards,

Gary

by the Shamrock on their caps,
And the famous Bengal Tiger, ever ready for a scrap,
And all his big battalions, Prussian Guards and grenadiers,
Fear to face the flashing bayonets of the Munster Fusiliers."

Thanks Guys.

Shane it was not the same without you guys but at least next year will allow us to take it one step further.

We had an audience in excess of three and a half thousand at the Amphitheater for the games on Saturday,( half the original estimated audience it was built to hold) and the largest number seen since the Eagles left. As you can see from the picture below the crowd was packed in even on the the none grassed quarter of the arena.

2011 in Chester will hopefully be the biggest Roman event in the country we are just awaiting confirmation for the exact date before the preparations begin. This year we had only three months to put the event together and because of that a large number of our friends were already committed to other events. With the extra time we will have to organize for next year the city should see more troops on the streets since the end of the Empire.

Participation next year will not be restricted to groups but open also to individuals( whose groups might not be able to attend) who can be enrolled as "Deva Victrix" for the event.

Regards,

Gary.
