\'Centurion\' Neil Marshall\'s new film
#1
Hi folks,
I saw the new web trailer yesterday for Neil Marshall's new film 'Centurion'. It's a behind enemy lines story, loosely based on 'The Eagle of the Ninth'.

Here's some screen grabs. Britannia members are peppered through it, me included....

More on Centurion here:

And here:

And this tidbit of news:

"It is scheduled to hit UK theaters in April, but has yet to be acquired for US distribution."

And Finally this short article about the competing film Eagle Of The Ninth. This article has a couple of photos and what do you know -- the Romans have pilum. Confusedhock:

It will be interesting to see which film, if either, wins our hearts... :?

I heard one of the stunt guys say that they had tested using Pilum for Centurion, but it was thought to be too flimsy for stunt work and likely to cause accidents, so they went for a sturdier shaft instead!!!???

You heard correctly Sillicus.

One of our members worked on the film and related that the director wanted to use pilum but safety was an issue as well as how they looked on film.

Here are links to previous forum discussions of this film:

They were doing decent with the armor then they went ahead with the musculata/seggie shoulder and breast plate. Hmmm, remember Gladiator and the armor Crowe wore?

Whos that woman on horse back. Confusedhock: Now that is my type of weird looking woman. What is the name of the actress?

That is what i meant by showing the trailer/interview... again, nice try but wrong alltogether...

I must say that in the new Spartacus series i have seen more action, a few correct gladiatorial outfits, but again...

They DONT seem to get it right EVER !!

Henk,

No they never seem to get it right and they will not since the objective is action and theatre not reality. In Troy, you remember, Brad Pitt was jumping around with his armor like a ninja

Still who is the actress?

Not having met os seen her in any film, I cannot be a judge of her true personality, Henk.
I will have to do with the cursory assement of her based on the look in the images on the publicity links,
as will 99% of mankind, I imagine?

Or are you speaking from personal experience with the lady? Do I detect a trace of bitterness perhaps, a broken heart?
Did she spurn your advances in a cruel and crushing manner?  Tell us all about it.......
