Quote:Great point! Yes, the T34 couldn't be but Russian for its blunt effectiveness, the Sherman just screams 'US Motor industry', the overengineered German tanks are quintessentially German and the British are, well, quirky?

Not to mention the Japanese tanks, which were essentially also-rans for armies that rarely fought in terrain suited for armored warfare. Their aircraft and warships, on the other hand, were excellent.
The T-34 was also the quintessential 'steppe tank,' good for covering long distances with good speed and without having to refuel.

Justin,
The T-34 was an amazing combination of the three major elements, mobility, protection, and firepower. Interestingly, it was developed from two American designs, the Liberty aero engine and J. Walter Christies T-3. The Russians purchased a couple T-3s originally ordered by the Polish Army and developed them into the BT of "lightning" series of tanks. The lessons learned were incorporated into the medium tank design known as the A-20 which came as an unwelcome suprise to the Germans as the T-34.

Indeed.
Not to mention that "the Tiger's twin back Mayback HL 700hp engines" were of course the 700 PS (690 hp, 515 kW) V-12 Maybach HL 230 P30 engines!
