2nd bigger volcano may shut down ALL airtravel
#1
A second much larger Icelandic volcano that is sometimes set off by the current volcano has the potential to shut down air travel worldwide for many months and make everyone long for Global warming as it snows during summer and causes widespread famine.

Boats still work.

Unfortunately, it would take a poker iron up the ass for the deciscionmakers to allow their use for crew changes.....

Yes, they mentioned the second, much larger volcano right at the start of this on sky news the other day.
They say there are no siesmic activities at the moment, but are continuing to monitor the situation.

Here is a preview of reenactors traveling to events during the air travel outage.

I've had it with risk averse governments that are so petrified of the claim/blaim culture they can't even make an informed and sensible decision about restricted air travel. It reminds me of when the Hatfield & Potters Bar train crashes caused the rail network to have an imposed blanket speed restriction of 20 miles per hour on the complete British rail network... because they were convinced that all the rails in the country were at risk of breaking down due to stress fractures... it turned out to be claptrap with only about 0.5% of the network being affected...

My mum and dad are due to go on an Hawaiian cruise they have been saving for, for ages next Saturday... there better be some movement by then or some poor customer services rep somewhere is going to have to face the wrath of my mum,,..... and thats not pretty

Actually, no. Icelandic volcanoes do not contribute much to global warming (or cooling! Link is to the Royal Dutch Meteorological Institute). The spew their ash to a relatively low altitude, where it gets in the way of aircraft. To influence climate, it needs to get into the stratosphere. That is apparently more a speciality of tropical vulcanoes.

Outlaw all volcanoes, says I. And if they violate the law and erupt anyway, we'll have them flogged with chains, Xerxes style.

I certainly sympathize (was supposed to fly to London today), but you do realize that this anecdote is in Herotodos to show Xerxes' hubris, which obviously needs taking down a notch as the Greeks subsequently proceeded to do...
