#1
Hi

My exhibition of over 40 paintings including some new work is now on display at the Gallo-Roman Museum, Saint Romain-en-Gal until 29th August. On June 5-6 I will attend the 'Journées

gallo-romaines' festival

see. http://www.musees-gallo-romains.com/presse for more details of the events, timetable and list of participants which include PAX AUGUSTA, ARS DIMICANDI, HERCULIANI, LETAVIA, FOEDERATI and SEPTIMANI SENIORES with my old friend Ivan Perello!

I hope to see some fellow RATers there!

A shame I can't attend this year! There will be 6 people from my group. The whole festival is very promising, including for the late romans facing Ordalies and Ask Alemannen. Some good action for you comilitiones! Big Grin

Hi Robert

I certainly aim to take as many photos as I can and to post some on RAT when I get back.

We also made some photographes:

Was a very nice event, only the weather.....first hot as in hell and one hour before packing the tents the Deluge started.
But it was very impressive to form such an numerous phalanx  . And we saw helmets by Ferran Garreta, who are doing very impressive work. Sad only that they didnt work in bronze only brass.

Yeah ! Great event ! The late roman camp was supposed to shelter 19 reenactors and we were 28.

Graham's last three pictures have been made on the late roman camp. We all looks like as if we were fleeing Amida but It was more than 30°C on Saturday and it was a bit hot to stand guard under the sun.

I think that the pictures of our centenarius Adwyn haven't been published here so :

One of my favourite : the lateroman cops give a fine to the gaulish war charriot.

It's always a pleasure to drive 12 hours in order to reach the museum, the site is really amazing with a whole roman town under the vineyards...

Thanks for posting Robert!

We have in the pictures above:
A Roman lady from Pax Augusta.
A Hallstatt warrior from Arbeitsgruppe Hallstattzeit.
Gallic chariot from Les Portes de l'histoire.

and various late Romans adapting to the hot weather conditions on the Saturday including Ivan Perello!

There were Romans from France, Italy, Switzerland, Germany and Spain. I was the sole representative from the UK but I had a few 'Romans' with me!

I have some pictures of Ars Dimicandi taken on the Sunday, do you want to see those? Sadly duty meant I missed most of the action but I did get to see a lot of the re-enactors.

Ivan, how are you attaching that epic crest? Reminds me very much of the Vergilius Romans crests.

Cheers
