Sorry for digging this post up, but instead of writing a new one, since this is still valid thought would just dig it back up.
Had to drop this idea for a couple of years, but now getting back to it and started looking up the Thyreos type shield. So looked it up, and I am taking this would be appropriate for a 4th century personna. http://www.flickr.com/photos/koryvantes/5397273975/
So a Thracian, a Thyreos shield and now trying to narrow down the body armor. There was a deepeeka linothorax, with scales going across the midsection, that I liked, but no idea how appropriate it is. I actually thru a trade had picked up about 2000 of those scales in the steel version, in a trade, so was looking to use those.
