I did think I posted it on here some time ago, already. I've been working on it with DSC for 1.5 year to get it to this stage. Will need a horse-hair cover, though.

U probably did, just saw it on his blog...
The horse hair cover is just the thing to make yourself...
I have a book on the helmets and the cover, under the iron mask it is called... Dutch/German.
Do you have any idea of the price for this helmet yet ?

Yeah, we're working on it, but it takes a lot of time.
Yes, I've that book also of course and did quite some research and reconstruction drawings of the cover based on the new insights published in that book.

Sexy?! Smothering is more like it : ) Allthough I've experienced the helmet to be a near perfect fit, with sight and breathing decent as long as it doesn't start building up heat inside. We'll post our findings as soon as we've used them on horseback.

Perhaps you should change the title to the post? Jurjen deserves a LOT of credit for the development of this helmet. As he wrote, it has taken 1,5 years to get a proper prototype, so I hope DSC has cut him a good deal for his perseverance and patience. Jurjen, my laudes go to you!
Oh hi, Paul, cross posted! Yep, that experiment will soon end discussions on whether or not these things could have been used in battle. From my point of view, these helmets were more then capable of finishing you off, long before the enemy got a spear anywhere near you!

Coughhhh, aaaahrrrggghh (chocking in shame for not stating the obvious). By all means, Jurjen really put a lot of effort into this one and the results are excellent. I have two of them on the shelf and find myself privileged to have them. Now I just need the time to finish them to the standard they deserve and see Jurjen wear one on horseback! We're in this together Jurjen, heeehaa!

That's a beauty! I wonder how it will fare whilst on horseback etc. because, apparently, it's hard to see and to breathe through these. This helm is very impressive indeed. Well done.

Very impressive. The results of trials are eagerly awaited.

Give us some time please. We're doing our best to get it happen, but doing Cavalry re-enactment is quite something different.
Although I have to say I can fight perfectly in my secutor helmet, which is also pretty closed and this one also has a good fit.
