Does anyone have photos of original pieces including dimensons or any data regarding the material used for the hygeine kit of soldiers (or probable kit). I think Holger sells them. However, I would like to make my own and prefer looking at originals.

A sea sponge hardly ever comes with set dimensions...

I bought a natural sponge from the art supply store, ripped off a chunk of it, sewed/tied it to the end of a stick. It made a ball about 2" (5 cm) in diameter. It works, but as Tarbicus pointed out a few years ago, it's kinda scratchy.
And that's not the one I carry in my bag.

I agree that Holger is good.
However, such equipment which is not too difficult to make, I would like to do it myself.

Hey Byron,
Yeah, it would be interesting to learn some metal work. I have done some but would like to do more.
I really do not want to copy other peoples replicas since that is their interpretation. I would like to see the originals and copy what I see.
That is why I asked for pictures of originals. Otherwise, there are plenty of replicas out there.

Thing is you can hardly go wrong but you'll learn that after carefull study of the originals. Good luck!

Hey Byron,
Thanks! Those are very useful. I will make them out of bronze because it appear that most of these pieces would have been cast.
The only problem is that there are not sizes (lenght, thickness). Would you happen to have some approximate dimensions?
It makes good sense to have a nail cleaner, and ear cleaner.
