Journalist seeks expert
#1
I am a journalist and I am writing a magazine article concerning the Varus Battle Museum and Park Kalkriese near Osnabruck, Germany. The staff were most helpful when I visited last month, and the museum and battlefield were excellent. Naturally, the staff is certain that this is the site of the Varlus battle. I would like to find an expert source, however, preferably an academic, who has another point of view - perhaps that it is not the site, or that it is only part of a larger site. Does anyone have a suggestion?

Try using the search function, because that subject has been discussed here on more than one occasion, one of them fairly recent. It's perhaps not a good idea to start a new thread yet again.

Also, please add your real (first) name to your signature (in your profile). It's a forum rule.

Foster,
Welcome to RAT. There are a few threads that may help you deal with it. Basically, you put your search word in the upper right corner, and you will get a list of related topics (often several in the same thread, of course.)
"Kalkriese" brings up a number of threads and posts, pertaining to the town, the proposed battlefield, the name given to a particular sort of armor, etc. 56 pages full, actually. :!:

Of course there are many more.

Using the term Arminius or Varus would produce another entire list. Hope that helps. If you have questions about how to use the search, or any other guides in the forum, please PM me and I'll see if I can get answers for you.
