Curiously, there have been rivers of ink spilt on the decipherment of the enigmatic Phaistos Disc, but the question of how the inscription was created has received almost no scholarly attention so far.
I know of only three authors who - briefly - dealt with the matter at all. This is all the more surprising since, if genuine, the disc, featuring individually stamped symbols, would be the very first instance of what is essentially movable type printing. Do you know of any analyses addressing this aspect?
