Torque
#1
Hi fellas

Could someone please tell how the Torque/Torc would have been worn by a Centurion in 1st Century. I am getting my kit together and have seen different ways in which it is worn.

Is it simply attached to the ends of a scarf/material type thing and wrapped around the neck? I have also seen some attached to the Phalerae harness?

Also where is the best place to buy them?

Thanks for your help.

From the tombstones, it appears as you said. They are slung through a cloth and draped over the trap muscles hanging down over the top part of the chest. To secure them from swinging around, some reenactors connect the bottom of the torcs to the phalerae harness.

The only source I could think of is Koenig. Of course you could make them yourself which is what I am doing.

I think Nix Imperial Creations and Soul of the Warrior carry torcs, but I'm not sure at all what's in stock. Both are in the US.
