Salve! I've been doing a little bit of research into Octavian's Illyrian campaign. Mostly it's from the book "From Republic to Empire: The Roman Civil War 44 BC to 27 BC". Its account of the Illyrian campaigns mirrors Appian's account, which I've also read online. I'm interested in finding out the number of legions and which legions were involved in the campaign. I can find an example of 2 legions (XV Apollonaris and XIII Gemina) who had colonies founded in the area, but I know this may not have anything to do with the legions that served in the campaign. My great-grandfather was from the area, so I'm interested in finding out more. Thank you!

I am not sure if it identifies individual legions (if this should be possible at such an early date) but this thesis appears to cover the topic:
thesis
and may be helpful.

Have a look at Velleius Paterculus as well. I don't have a copy so can't give you any specifics, but he served as an officer in some of these campaigns and is our primary source for much of what we know about them.

Thank you very much!! I read both, and while they still didn't mention particular legions, they did say that there were 8-12 legions involved. They did give me a much better understanding of the campaign. I was especially interested when the Sava River was mentioned, because my great-grandfather grew up on the Upper Sava. It's unfortunate to me that the story of Octavian being the first on the wall of Metelum is probably propaganda, but he still seems to act bravely at the siege, without attempting to emulate Alexander. But then, a lot of generals seemed to want to emulate Alexander, so why not Octavian?
