New Armour!
#1
It's been some time since I posted on here, and have yet to use either of these.
The squamata I recieved today, after lumbering a good and patient friend with a box or two for a few weeks.
The other I recieved last year!

Cheers! I'm pretty chuffed!

Guess I should clarify the sources of these 2.
The squamata is from Adrian Wink,
the seg is from Erik Konig, based on the latest finds from Kalkriese at the time!

I've always been a fan of the Kalkriese, I don't know why, maybe just because (to me anyways) it seems more bulkier and macho.

So can we expect to see some new posts in the "Show us your Roman Impression" thread?

Looking very good Byron! Although when I read the title I kinda hoped you added a later squamata to your armory..

Well, the doubler is detachable.... Confusedmile:
I think the ringmail will have to do for now though...

Oh that's good. I think Paul Karremans had the same new squamata, it looked very well on him last Saturday (no doublers). I think you could use that very well in a 4th c. context.

Except the hooks on the front...I have to check if they are removable or not!
Still, its a nice piece, and now I need a decent subarmalis..

Very good! :-P all this looks great. I like the Kalriese too, but more so the Corbridge A because of the sturdier hinges? What do people prefer most, shoulder plates that are two long and two short, or 4 gradually decreasing lengths?

All in all, can't wait to see a complete impression :-D

Very nice new armour Byron. I look forward to seeing it in the flesh.

And now, to celebrate your lovely new armour, here is a photo, courtesy of Caballo, of me in my own nice new armour, taken a couple of weeks ago.
