I'd bet a denarii that someone's ego torpedoed it.

I got my official email thru the LAFE site from Mark Saddler.......I'm really disappointed. Hopefully people across the country may take this weekend and put together some smaller events, as I'm sure many folks scheduled vacation time etc.
One good thing, I guess. I have become a Boudicca scholar in prep for the event, reading many books and watching(good and bad) several dvds about her and the rebellion.
I really felt it was really going to be something, enthusiasm high et al, sounds, from the description by Mark, there was more than "egos" going on. Whatever the case, a REAL bummer, and I , for one, hope to find another event this spring to attend....waiting till next year is just too far away, Antoninus

I think the amassed Celts were so large in numbers that the Romans got cold feet. Wink

I'm not sure why Lafe was cancelled But Legio XIII from Texas has a site and are planning to put on an event the same weekend as Lafe to Fill the void. IT IS NOT THE EVENT being put on by Cohort V, David Wills. This event is about 5hr south of Lafe. Email Bryan Fitch at ([email protected]) for more info.

Was there a Lafe event this year 2012? I was hoping to see some photos. I really enjoy seeing people in kit truly living like Roman soldiers.

Sorry,

I had not read the earlier posts that it was cancelled.  Does anyone have the 2011 photos or point me in the right direction. Big Grin

BTW, is Peterson still involved? :?: Last year he was not there. Maybe he has become the dinosaur of reenactment?

Start there, join the group and look in photos. At least 3 folders there.

No problem. That group may go away, though, as the entire event has been revamped, and will reappear next spring under new management, and a new business model. The new yahoogroup is:

Not much there yet, but it's a newly formed group, by most of the same people--event will, of course, be at the same site.
