I understand that the Magister Militum Praesentalis (I and II) were commanders of the two mobile field armies that would accompanied the emperor on campaign. What about the Magister Militum per Thracias? Was he tasked only with the defense of the diocese of Thrace or was that army also mobile? Were the two dukes along the Danube subordinate to him. And lastly, how far, geographically, did his responsibility for defense extend, out of the diocese?
