Exceptional Roman find in the UK
#1
Some lovely stuff. Hopefully, the finds can be bought from the finder and the landowner, so they can be put in a museum.

You need to see the wall painting designs from Arbeia Wink
Moi Watson

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, Merlot in one hand, Cigar in the other; body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "WOO HOO, what a ride!

Is this what you mean? :dizzy:

It reminds me of some wall painting I saw recently in Rome, at the (4th century) Casa Romana San Giovanni e Paolo on the Caelian - entirely the naffest example of 'fake marbling' I've ever encountered... it looked like a close-up of bubbles in a petri dish, or a cross-section of an Aero bar... Made me wonder if something had been lost in the overall effect, maybe...

Not everything was symmetrical with their decoration. I particularly like this tiling from Oplontis, which astounded me when I saw it.
