German translation

Does anybody know what "sämisch gegerbtem Leder" is? A kind of leather, so much is clear to me, but what's the English phrase?

(Some of you now know which book I am reading!)

Hey Jona!

I guess you are looking for this kind of leather has just a different name in english.

I know some people don't like wikipedia but it is always a good way to start if you are looking for something.

Thanks Patrick!

The book I was referring to, BTW, was Christian Koepfer, Florian Himmler and Josef Löffl (eds.), Die römische Armee im Experiment[/url].
