TV-Special : Romans In The Southwest (Of Germany)
#1
Thanks to Markus Zwittmeier from www.tribur.de for pointing my nose to that one :
Here (In German):
http://www.ardmediathek.de/ard/servlet/c...Id=9563044
As broadcast on SWR, Thursday, 23th of Feb. 2012.
The second part will be broadcast on Thursday, 1st of March 2012, 22.30 CET.
My first impression:
A fair introduction to the Roman Empire, touching the "what did the Romans do for us"
as "byworks". Definitely more "up-to-date" and competent when it comes to more recent
research and findings. (Yes -- and the "weaponry-afficianados" are having their share with this one !) At least "one notch" above the usual rubbish that is frequently brought to us by the second german programme ZDF.(When it comes to Romans and related stuff.)
Well -- as I usually say : A pictures speaks louder than words.

Medusa,
.....the Mediathek will help you out, there. (Link above)
The broadcasts will be available for free viewing after they are finished.
Right now there's an additional "Fouilleton" running at SWR
"Auf den Spuren der alten Römer"/"Tracing the Romans of old"
I'll be posting the link to the Mediathek as soon as it is avalable.

Thanks for the link, better than nothing, though I would've preferred to watch it full screen on a big screen.

SWR- and BR-productions are usually much better than all this ZDF-stuff, which is often just recycling its own material anyway.
