Denver Roman Reenactment PAID job (temp 180 days)

The Denver Museum of Nature & Science seeks Historical Enactors to work part-time July 2012 – January 2013 performing during the temporary exhibition, A Day in Pompeii.

The first-person historical enactment of authentic Roman citizens, gladiators, and associated characters will captivate and educate our diverse audiences with what life was like in Pompeii right before Mount Vesuvius erupted.

Each successful candidate will research and build his/her character based on historical records and exhibition requirements, then interact with Museum visitors in an informal setting, perform shows, facilitate activities, and provide photo/video opportunities for visitors and the media. Strong background in theatrical performance and enactment or improv theater required. Enthusiasm and approachability, willingness to take direction, strong communication and facilitation skills (for diverse audiences including children), and dependability a must. Approx. 19-25 hours/week including week days, weekend day, evenings/special events, and on/around holidays. Audition/interview required.
