The best event since I make reenactment. Big thanks to those who were able to make possible this dream.

I'm sorry I wasn't able to say hello to all and to say goodbye to even less (there always is work when you have horses with you), but I did enjoy it very much. It has been a great experience, a good figth and I'm especially proud on Talento, the stallion I was riding, as he behaved very good with all the noise and other (female) horses on the field.

Again thanks to the team for organising this and letting us to be part of the show.

Great great great event, and to hear the high praise of several veterans  tells me this was really something. For me it was my very first battle anyway, and indeed the largest event so far. And many RAT members found each other in the camp and on the field! Big Grin

Our pictures are on our FB-site, hope you'll like it.

The festival in itself was AMAZING. I had the time of my life.

A great weekend bringing together many groups with differing expectations and experience of re-enactment style combat and by and large bringing it of safely for the participants.

For those that hadn't been to Marle in the previous annual festival the weather of the Friday may have been a disappointment but the 'weather gods' smiled on all on the Saturday and Sunday and I departed on the Monday with my usual Marle tan!

Thank you to Alain Nice and all his volunteers and staff, to Benjamin for all his efforts and to all the re-enactors, artisans and traders for maintaining the friendly co-operation in the spirit of providing the audience a spectacle of entertainment and learning that makes this venue such a special place for the participants and audience alike.

A cracking weekend with some memory snapshots that will last a long time, lets do it all again bigger and better.

best

Fantastic- the pictures look like the stills from the best late Roman film never made.

Hopefully next year?

And this looks remarkably like a reconstructed Shorwell helmet from the Isle of Wight find? First reproduction I've seen if thats the case.

Yeah, the Bretons beat me to it, although I understand that Tim Noyes has made one for Wayne Letting as well.

Not necessarily the Isle of Wight helm, but I did see one of the Ulfhednar cavalry also wearing the Frankish variant of the same helm which I know they have had for some time.
