Dont suppose anyone has roman roads (somewhat accurate) in a shapefile format? Or know where I can find them?

Keith Briggs or English heritage may be the place to start from;

Depends upon the scope of your requirements. If you require transnational data, forget it. You'll have to go to national/regional authorities in each case (so English Heritage, Cadw, and Historic Scotland just for the UK; don't know, but I'm guessing that each of the Länder similarly hold data for just their part of Germany and so on, all round the empire, until you get to the bits where they are too busy trying to kill each other to worry about GIS). The digitisation of existing archaeological data is still in its infancy, unfortunately, and new stuff is being generated at a frightening rate of knots.
