Old Fort Parker 3

January 25-27 weekend is set for the Fort Parker 3 Camp.
All interested Romans and Friends of 1st Century Rome are warmly invited to attend and participate.

Non Cohort Five members, please contact [email protected] for more details and registration information.

*** Primitive and modern camping, flush toilets, showers, excellent and historic site.
*** Public access from around 10AM to closing of fort at 6PM.
*** Saturday is planned as a station-to-station activity for home schoolers from the Groesbeck/Mexia area.
*** Sunday is planned as a marching drill session. Specific commands from the Tactica will be published at a later date.
*** Period food provided for those who pay into the grocery bill in advance. Menu to be determined.
*** Campers may arrive on Friday. No specific activities planned for Friday, except for event setup.
*** No word yet on ground fires. Come prepared to cook by other means if there still a burn ban.

Please distribute this information to others you may think are interested! Come down for a day or the duration!

*** Camp fee will be ten dollars in advance, Paypal to below address, or email for other method.
*** Part of the funds collected will go to the Fort.
*** There will be a separate charge for food served at the mess tent, or you may bring your own.
*** Gear and armor 1st Century AD, officer impressions allowed, line soldier preferred

By the way, the weather that day felt a lot cooler than the weatherman had suggested, and there was a light mist in the air, which probably was one of the large reasons there were not many visitors to the fort. But we had a great time anyway, and finally decided that our finicky camera has made its last trip out. It works at home, but evidently does not like to travel, as it refuses to take pictures away from the house. It will be a fine paperweight, though.

Feel free to put up the video of Mike Lockhart's Celt presentation, Marcus. Nice stuff.
