Just a few experiments
#1
These are just a few things I had been playing around with. First I had quite a while back made a single piece hilt out of oak. It wasn't perfect but was rather fun to do. Only a week or so ago I decided to make a lenticular later model spatha with profile and slight distal taper. Then I mated the two together. Not a historically accurate depiction but this is the result. Blade as yet unpolished and yes I do need to buy a polishing kit for my grinder. (hope this linking works)

Also made another gladius in a flight of fancy

Just playing around really as these are not prettily finished etc. or historical replicas so you don't have to state the obvious  Comments welcome anyway.

Off to Alabama tomorrow morning for the next week so USA here I come!

Anyone who can turn wood gets my vote :-)

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, Merlot in one hand, Cigar in the other; body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "WOO HOO, what a ride!

Hey
There are some real good looking blades there. Work on the woodwork and handle and we will all be visiting you rather than Indian companies.

This thread should have been in the 'Re-enactment and Reconstruction' section Jim.
