Late German Merc Helm
#1
I've been doing some searches and studying and it has been suggested that the German Auxiliary may have basterdized the roman helms with theirs...any one seen proof of this? If so what direction do I need to look?

Ah, OK, Late Roman helmet for a Germanic mercenary.
Well honestly I don't know. The Bieberwier helmet (Fernpass, Austria) is quite weird, but that's not a 'basterdized' helmet, rather a new design based on a Roman helmet (or a weird-looking Roman helmet). But I've yet to see a Roman helmet rediesigned with germanic helmet parts.

Just googled an image of it, looks like an Eastern German piece if anything.

In fact we know the Barbarians were more accustomed to using Roman equipment than Romans used Barbarian
