Mick Aston

Just read the sad news that TV's Time Team archaeologist Mick Aston has died at the age of 66.

My thoughts go out to his many friends and family.

How sad. He was one of my favourites on that show.

Great character. Making archaeology popular with the masses may not have been his initial intention, but the resulting tv show was surely largely his achievement.

It is so sad for he was in poor health for some time but to die so young is very tragic. RIP

The BBC has a nice story about him. I didn't realise that there was such a thing as the British Archeaological Awards until I read he won a lifetime achievement award last year.
