Ancient SPAM

Like concrete and many other so called modern inventions Spam was first developed in ancient Rome. Packed in small earthenware jars and olive oil it was transported all over the empire to be enjoyed by the Legions and civilians alike. It was one of the major culinary advances of the ancient world and was written extensively about by Roman authors including by Pliny in his treatise on Spam recipes "Pro Spamius Prepararius".

Fairly interesting. We all wanted to know the origin of spam.
I also believe the Romans invented the process of sending letters to people who didn't really want them. ie-- spamming. :whistle: :wink:

Right, Alanus. And the majority of those letters came from deepest Africa, where an obscure lawyer had found your address in the personal effects of a deceased distant family member who had left a huge fortune to you, and all you had to do to receive it was send the deed to your property to him, along with the keys to your front door so he could match them to a drawing in the Last Will and Testament. This was only to prove your identity, of course, at which time a caravan would be dispatched to deliver your boxes and baskets of gold coins. Return address? Nairobius.
