Sindri,

With my moderator hat on, can we lose the comments on religion in your earlier post? Could you edit them or shall I?

Thanks and regards

Paul

Though this guy's methods seem a little weird, don't accuse him of the loan affair too easily. That's a fairly well known spam/scam message that was probably not sent by him.

This email was such ridiculous for us that firstly we thought the same, that maybe that's not him, who sent the message. But we have checked this. And that really was him, who sent it.
After having read all what he wrote on his facebook page and after all his emails to us, we are not surprised anymore.

Several organisations, and even individuals, use photos of Comitatus events to advertise themselves and their internet sites. I fear I view it as rather inevitable, and to a degree all publicity, even second hand publicity, is not all together a bad thing.

I am sure others will have a real understanding of the law regarding the use of images. But while some may "pirate" images, it doesn't really effect the truth, and we may have little choice but to adopt a relaxed attitude to such people.

Sorry for opening up this topic again, but I just wanted to mention this... I keep getting such emails from people I know personally, where "they are in the UK, robbed and with no documents and need money", money to be sent by Western Union (which BTW is an anonymous service used by all scammers worldwide). As it turns out later (when I contact them NOT by email) - their email has been hacked (usually Hotmail or Yahoo) and such messages sent to all people on their contact list. It's a common scam and has nothing to do with the real person.

I posted many project images of my work on Facebook. The protection level is surely low by opening the major albums only to friends, but this story about that "rip guy" makes me reflecting to protect the main albums to only a small group of friends.

in fact I would not feel honoured if somebody copies without permission if he/she steals some ideas or fotos etc.

We are never safe of those guys but I am thankful that you published the name. Such persons I do not accept in friendlist there...and even I have a large "friendlist" I watch it carefully.

Thanks for helping us with this information

@Appius Lucretius : Closing the album to friends only will NOT protect it. The album is for friends only, but the photos themselves are not - anyone can open the URL and see them, it's a commonly known shortcoming of Facebook (where will people get the URL from? It can be forwarded by a friend - who is doing you a favour by promoting it... or it can be sent out NOT by the friend personally but by some application he has given access to, like all FB games and apps that routinely want such permissions and everyone just grants them). Besides, hiding the photos beats the purpose - I guess you want them to be seen...

Why don't you just watermark them with your name or the URL of your site? Most graphic software has this feature.

A friend pointed out to me that the Facebook page of 'Francia Orientalis' belongs to none other than Faris Reenactment Basar.
