Great, at least there will be a discussion forum that doesn't focus on the knuckle-scrapers ;-)

Think of it as a compliment to Ancient Civilian talk to which I will post a link in Vicus and Village.

We were just visited by Brett and Lisa Clark of Legio VI in New Zealand, and we talked about how are Legio XX is half women doing civilian impressions. They were intrigued by the level of participation, which we credit to Allison. She invented the caupona and all the activities of the women who ran shops, like Asellina in Pompeii, and the technologies to support civilian and military life.
This really only works for teaching and events with the public; otherwise, it is just the usual house work. My wife is not the camp follower type.
I mention this because Legio IX here wants to build a Lafe like fort, and are trying to build a civilian side. But while guys doing the army thing are role playing outside their normal lives, the women have all said there is nothing new in cooking and cleaning that they don't do everyday anyway, so have no reason to sit in a damp fort.
I was looking through the Legio XX Facebook page, and about 1/4 of the posts are non-military or so. But then, it depends on who actually likes posting, just as in John's page.
