So, I'm wanting to get into some variety of classical reenacting; either Roman or Germanic. Which I choose will probably be based on my ability to source kit in ogreish sizes. I'm 6'4", wear a size 8 hat, a 52 jacket, and a size 15 shoe. Will it be possible for me to find caligae and helmets large enough?

Not a problem, how much money do you want to spend is the real question.

Past reenacting impressions I went in expecting to spend ~$2,000-3,000. I'd expect to put in about the same.

I don't think your height would be an issue, if you were concerned about Romans being shorter people. They were, but I don't think you're disqualified, it's not an unforgivable height. Getting caligae that large may be a little bit of an issue, you can contact DSC or Al-Hammd to see if they could make a pair that large

Size 8 is unusual, almost always custom. I have two helmets that size. One can also make custom caligae, given the materials.

well being "huge" I would suggest you a barbarian role, as Germanic tribesmen you would tower the pitiful romans with their "thin cans"
as a Germanic warrior you would be also able to do a lot of equipment yourself, this is a lot of fun.
If you want any advice would be nice to help you with it.
You are located probably in US I would suggest you to find a group near where you live. BTW when are you located?
cheers

I certainly don't think your size precludes you from Roman re-enactment you'd have to be a lot bigger I think, but I would say your on the top end
mile: by the way what shoe size standard are you talking about USA or British there is a difference I believe....

Welcome to the forum!
I would second Gunthamund's suggestion! You could even deck yourself out as a Germanic noble, standing proud and tall. There are some really good and interesting weapons to chose from. Being a noble will also allow you chainmail and a good sword, either a dubble edged blade of one of those really fine Germanic single edges swords with great "pistal grip" like handles.

Forgot to ask where you're located? There may be some Romans near you who make their own kit, and would help you do that.
