Besancon Gallic F
#1
Some of you guys would have seen my post on FB in regards to my newly acquired Besancon Gallic F helmet, made by the master Robert Pustelak.
Anyway for other members on RAT I would like to share some photographs of my new helmet. Have to say I am incredibly happy with the finished product (thank you Robert for a splendid job). Robert managed to obtain an extremely close reconstruction of this helmet in my view when compared with the original. I did quite a bit of research on the helmet and managed to get a lot of details and information from the Museum of fine arts and archaeology of Besancon, where the helmet is housed.
The original had silver sheeting over it, though we decided to go for silver plating instead simply due to the cost and massive labour time in applying silver sheet.
I plan to make a decorated crest for it.
