ISIS destroys Hatra

Still leaves the civilians totally screwed, but at least they say the ruins are intact and won't be destroyed.

(Only in archaeology is "the ruins are intact" not an oxymoron...)

Dear Joe,

I understand the frustration you feel about Western involvement in the Middle East. Too often it has been characterized by indecision, a lack of clear goals, misapprehension of various local political factions, and poor or misuse of military forces. No one is more frustrated than me as a retired U.S. Army officer. But I pose a simple question, what happens to the West if it does not protect its interests now? Will we be fighting these barbarians at our own gates?

Respectfully,

I was hoping that this thread would die down. It does not so I'm closing it. C'mon folks, modern politics? There are plenty of forums about those topics.
