Still leaves the civilians totally screwed, but at least they say the ruins are intact and won't be destroyed.

Dear Joe,
I understand the frustration you feel about Western involvement in the Middle East. Too often it has been characterized by indecision, a lack of clear goals, misapprehension of various local political factions, and poor or misuse of military forces. No one is more frustrated than me as a retired U.S. Army officer. But I pose a simple question, what happens to the West if it does not protect its interests now? Will we be fighting these barbarians at our own gates?
