Salve, anybody who reads this! I recently acquired a pair of caligae, and I was wondering if anybody could give some tips on how to keep them in good condition. Anything you have to say helps! Gratias!

go to a local saddlery or shoeshop and get some leather wax. Just give it a rub every once in a while.
It also helps to clean the ciligae after use AND store them dry. Putting them away wet (especially in closed environment) will not be very good.

Of course, us barbarians don't wear caligae but I've found occasional wipings of Neatsfoot Oil handy for my steppe boots. It's a natural preservative and keeps the leather from drying out.

Agreed, neatsfoot oil keeps it fresh, only have to do it once a year from my experience, if even that.
