What color of Milk Paint for a scutum?
#1
Today, while purchasing some more 1/8 inch baltic birch plywood for another scutum, I discovered that the local hardwood dealer also sells Milk Paint. The closest red for a scutum that I see is "Salem Red". Matt Amt on his legio XX site says to use "barn red", but from the sample this color appears very brown to me. Others using Milk Paint use what color?

Edited by: Neuralmancer at: 3/12/05 7:17 pm

Actually, we (as of the last Legio XX fabrica) use Salem Red from Old Milk Paint company. It's consistent. If you want to try other shades, you can try mixing your own pigments from Synopia with Old Milk Paint's base paints, or their white.
Legio XX
