Mainz Fishies!
#16
Well hello buff!
Solution: guisborough + dolphins = praetorian fleets? (duck! slingshots flying in). Seriously, do you have a picture?
I did some archaeological digs in my bookshelf, and they are not dolphins actually but some sort of sea monsters: a fish tail with a dragon head (a griffin?)
The helmet in question was found at Worthing, in Norfolk, England. It's in Michel Feugere's monography "Casques Antiques" which I highly recommend.
The photograph is from the Romische Germanische museum at Mainz, so it's probably there.
And yes, I have plenty pictures, including drawings by yours truly, and a decent scanner and everything. But I am totally computer impaired. I tried a couple of times last night with "ezcodes" but it was not ez for me, I'm afraid...
So your advice would be very welcome
And a Happy New Year 2755 AUC!!

Fish tail with a dragon head? You mean a capricorn?
And in Mainz? Hmmm, been there, checked my photos, but I must have missed it. We'll have to look out for it when we go there again in February/March.

Ezboard image codes are not that difficult: type image and /image between square brackets. Between those markers you put the url of the photo. Trouble is, you have to put it on a webserver somewhere and point to that url.
Greets
Perhaps you need another image hosting service? Seems that free (permanent) image hosting that allows remote linking is hardly available any more.
Greets
