I don't know of any pictures of an original hasta but,it is quite simply a generic spear. My guess is they ran about six foot over all (I can think of one shown on a tomb stone but, can't remember the name and can't find the book it is a little taller than the man holding it.)Check out the Legio XX site they have a picture of a hasta head made by just having the wide end of an iron triangle wrapped in to a socket.I've made a few this way and while not as good as a pilium for going all the way through a target they would defiantly do the trick and they are easier to make.

Yup, the photo of the head is on our Auxiliaries page,
It's also on the Photos page. You can see more on the various sites of auxiliary groups, particularly:
Spears probably ran longer than 6 feet, about 7 to 8. And "lancea" seems to have been a more common term in the Imperial period than hasta, but there was a lot of mixing of terminology and it's generally impossible to say exactly what type of weapon a particular head came from. It's a spear! General usage today has lancea as a dual-purpose weapon, for throwing or thrusting, while hasta tends to be used more for thrusting spear. But it quickly degenerates into hair-splitting!
Annaius Daverzus, thats the guy and,he is holding two spears. Both spears are just a little longer than he is tall.(It could be a case of just making the spears fit on the sculpture.)Now,I would guess that because there are two spears that the idea is at least one and probably both are for throwing.Matthew says seven or eight foot so I'm,sure that this is correct esp. for a spear that is not intended to be thrown.I'm going to have to make an eight footer and see if it is harder to throw.
