LOL, I was a little sad when I wanted one and my mom said I was too old for playmobils. If I get POTC action figures, I bet I could get playmobil romans and make historical satire, being my excuse  Muhahahahahaha. Or I could decide to be a toy collector, and give up right after I get all the toys I want. MUHAHAHAHAHA
Dan/Anastasios of Sparta/Gaius Statilius Rusticus/ Gaius Germanicus Augustus Flavius Romulus Caesar Tiberius Caelius (Imperator  <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_twisted.gif" alt="" title="Twisted Evil" /> )
Yachts and Saabs are for whimps!

These came out in the UK in 2007, but I only saw them for the first time a couple of weeks ago. I guess I don't get round the toystores as much as I used to. Big Grin

There are different pieces available in different countries - and in Germany they already have various shield designs and specials.

I think the pieces are great, and have refuelled my interest in both the Roman army and Playmobil figures. Maybe they're not 100% as you would like them, but given the needs of mass manufacture and moulding etc. I think they're pretty good. You could always use acrylic paints to get the look you want!

Here's an auction for 110 men ... a little pricey at $250, has a bid though:

Quite right Jason, $250 is a lot of money, but then again like Lego, Playmobil is an expensive toy (a sure sign that it is not made in China). At retail this "legion" would cost even more.

They do look great on parade, and it would be fun to add these troops to my grandson's army, but at $250 I will have to wait. Cry

Thanks for the link.

Hehe... passed through Frankfurt a few weeks back, and one of these sets "mysteriously" made its way into my hand luggage. I say mysteriously, because I had to think up a very good story to explain to my significant other why there was suddenly a Roman warship in my bag.

$2.27 a figure is a very good deal on Playmobil figures. They are nearly 3" tall each, you know.

Of course, you don't have to buy 110 legionaries all at once. You can buy packets of 3 direct from Playmobil's website from $7.29, and also all the rest of the current Roman range, including ballista, siege towers, catapults, ships...

The odd thing about this auction is that each human figure was originally packaged and sold separately as a special figure, and they've opened them all up, thus reducing the value. 110 separately boxed discontinued figures would be worth a lot more.

They've also added in some chariots, but not ones made by Playmobil.
