Tunic Seam
#1
At the advice of Crispvs, I am posting this here for feedback on the sewing technique for my tunic.

I used some scrap cloth and different colored thread to practice and make sure I am reading the instructions from the Legio XX handbook correctly.  I started with right sides together and used a running stitch to sew the seam.

Then I pressed the seam open and rolled the raw edge under and secured with a whip-stitch.

Obviously, this will look better with matching thread.  My questions is, do I have this right to hand sew my tunic?

As I think I may have said before, I am not really qualified to comment on Roman seams. However, there are people here that are. The people I would probably go to first would be Claire Marshall (who posts here as 'Cheyenne') or Martin Moser.

Graham Sumner's book covers this, he would know.

Thank you Crispvs.  I just want to make sure I'm getting the stitching right. Even if nobody will see it!

Looks like solid stitching to me. Nice work.
From what I’ve read, a running stitch and whipstitch are both period correct.

Matching thread isn’t required, either.
