Ok...
Is there any information on a scarf worn under the helmet?
I have seen where scarfs were worn under helmets in the Reformation, Spanish Conquest, and Japan. I started taking a few months agoKendo and found that the scarf colour was often key to determining who was who during a match. It is also customary to present a vistor to a Dojo with a scarf, BTW. Some modern motorcycle police wear them. We wore them during night combat operations instead of a bush hat. They are practical, prevent chafing, and look cool, so I would be supprised if the Romans didn't have them. (The Romans soldiers wore them in Gladiator, but that doesn't count.)
