How many Greek reenactors are there?
#36
Khairete, oh Hellenes!

I thought I had already posted details of the event, but here goes:-

Date: Sat/Sun 3rd/4th June 2006 (destined to live forever in the annals of re-enactment).

Venue: Watford Boys' Grammar School, Rickmansworth Road, Watford.
Rickmansworth Road is the A412. If you're coming from Heathrow, you can pick this up from the M25 by taking the M40 towards London and leaving it at Junction 1, in the direction of Denham. You pass through Denham and Rickmansworth and the school will be on your left as you come into Watford.

Nearest airport: Heathrow. But the venue is easily accessible from Stanstead or Gatwick, so, if you can get cheaper flights to these, do it.
I live near Stanstead, and can easily commute to Watford.

Nearest Station: Watford (Metropolitan Line).

Camping overnight Saturday will be possible in the school grounds. If you don't have/can't bring a tent, let me know and i will try to arrange a marquee for those willing to "rough it" in company with others. I'm negotiating for Friday night as well, but I'm also trying to find people willing to put up re-enactors for free in their own homes. The difficulty is that very few of the English re-enactors who will be attending the event actually live near London. Preference will be given to re-enactors from overseas - the greater the distance, the higher the priority.

We may be asked to contribute to the Watford Civic Festival, which would entail marching out of the School into Cassiobury Park and putting on a drill display.

A Mycenaean chariot could be appearing, but we need to hear from someone with an experienced pair of carriage ponies, who would be willing to re-train them to chariot. I know a bloke who could stand and pose next to the driver...

If anyone has any further questions, please ask.

Remember, if you're a student of Ancient Greek or Ancient Greece, and you live far away, you could apply for the grant from the Society for the Promotion of Hellenic Studies. You can submit letters of application (c.v. and 2 refs.; one academic, one character) to me via e-mail, in the first instance at <[email protected]>.

So, Tiberius, is you comin' o' is you ain't?
