Roman is essentially the first military "reenacting" I've ever done, and I never thought I would have gotten into it! I pretty much...Fell..into it.

Currently it's Mid 1st Cen. Imperial legionary. Eventually I'd like to have an Augustian or Marian era for variety.

Outside of that, I'm building a 1460-70 "German" kit for use with Higgins Armory/Sword Guild demonstrations and Company of Wolfe Argent, although I'm not sure if I have "time" to be a reenactor of that time period as I do with Roman.

Eventually I'd "like" to have a 1570's German costume as well for HASG.

A few of the guys in HASG also do ACW Bayonet drill and are also working on 1600's-era Pike drill, using De Gheyn's manual of arms; and I'm learning some of both more out of curiosity and a break from [Roman].

If I ever could afford it, I had an idea to do a 1600's Cuirassier or an ECW Ironsides/Colonial Troop of Horse (well, without the horse, cheaper that way), cause I think Wheelocke firearms are wicked-spiffy-cool; but for now I'm just going to focus on Roman and Late Medieval Big Grin

I do roman, and that's it. I'm in the process of building japanese armour, but I doubt I'll do any "reenacting" with it. My time now is mostly spent training in japanese sword arts, and playing around with the idea of making katana fittings and grinding my own blades. From there it'll be making a back yard foundry to I can do my own heat treating.

Afraid not, I live on the other side of the Atlantic in Pennsylvania. Too bad you didn't get a pic of the guy though, it would have been interesting to see a reenactor doing the same period that looks like me.

Well I see I am not the only one with the combination 1st. century and 15th century! Smile
Over in Germany I was active in a group called ARS Replica displaying romanised Germans mainly civilian, and on the 15th century bit as a member of the Company of Saint George and 1476 Städtisches Aufgebot doing the role of a scribe and miniture painter, well everything that had to do with the making of books.
Well hope to carry on with both periods here in Canada will see what comes out!

Martin

Here is one photo with the 15th century bit.

Hello Tiberio

Nice to meet you. Company of Saint George is the most famous group in the world for this period (late 15 c). Their quality is superb.
I had chance to see them in action last three years during Pentecost events in Hinterweidenthal (Germany).

Please find my gallery of pictures from this event here : year 2003 and year 2004

Enjoy. I havent put pictures from 2005 yet... but maybe in the nearest future I will do it.

Hi Cacaius,
I think I remember you, wheren´t you the fellow selling those arrowheads?
Well the Pentacost event isn´t a company event but an event so that groups from all over Europe can get together to get to know each other. Afterall we are all doing the same hobby so why not share ideas and solutions, it spares you the time of "reinventing the wheel" and being able to use your time for new things! Yes I miss that event, was always very nice, but now I am too far away to take part.

Martin

P.S. noticed you have several photos of my stuff, even a few photos of my wife with her brocade sleeves. 2004 was the last time I was there. I was the one selling those silver pennies.

6th c. Romano-British? Isn't that a bit late for the 'Romano'?
