Plaids and stripes
#1
I'm just idly wondering: a lot of more modern reconstructions show Roman troops and auxiliaries in the Northwestern parts wearing plaid patterns of various types.

What is our evidence for these? I know the Thorsberg and other cloaks were made like that, but is there any known Roman or Gallo-Roman find that shows such patterns? And is there evidence of colours?

The Falkirk tartan is dated to the 3rd century or 4th century AD:
