Deipnosophists
#1
I have seen reference to this book with regard to Greek and Roman food and eating styles. It says 1854 for a publication date, and no one seems to have a copy, but I was wondering if anyone knows where I could find a copy or an electronic version. If 1854 surely it's out of copyright!

I don't think you'll have rtoo much chance with this particular version, but the Loeb Classical Library edition is still in print (at least I got it through amazon earlier this year) and quite good. As to a web version, I've looked, but haven't found anything, in the past. Maybe you'll be luckier. The text is quite lengthy, though.

There's also this:

Which is less technical but very fun.

If you want to link to amazon, you can use amazon tags, like [ amazon ] booktitle [ /amazon ] (remove the spaces between the [ and ])
So that would be [amazon]Around the Roman Table : Food and Feasting in Ancient Rome[/amazon]
