Anyone with a Deepeeka Lorica Segmentata?
#1
Hello all,

I was hoping to see if people who have and use the Deepeeka Lorica Segmentata would be kind enough to share their torso and chest measurement and whether or not the armour is that good of a fit on their size? If anyone would be gracious to help me with this I would greatly appreciate it!

Cheers!

Most of the Deepeeka "One size fits all" will fit a person of average to slightly heavy build in the 34 to 44 chest size range. A 46 may squeeze in if they are athletic, but anyone larger (48 up) needs an Albion or bigger, and a 32 may make one fit, if they are a bit heavy. I believe Dan has said Deepeeka is planning to do sizes eventually. It is easier tomake things smaller rather than larger, so smaller folks who do not mind working on the armor can go with a deepeeka. We can "cheat" a larger person into a deepeeka by leaving a gap in the back and covering it with a cloak... this is what we do when we have a large trainee who is trying out the Genre.

Smaller people often have to work on the torso rib plates, or they get "barrell arm" from their inner bicep rubbing the armor edge. You could get a set that is a little larger or smaller, but this is the sizes I tell my customers to look for when they get it, and I am pretty confident in it.

The Albions run very large, their 44-48 fitting me (I am a 50-52 chest) wheras their 50-54 swallowed me, but they are gracious in exchanging to get the right fit.

Hope it helps!

Thank you for your help again! Given all this would you say a Deepeeka would be ok for me having a 36 inch chest? Please let me know and thank you again!

Yes, you are right in the "ideal" size group, I think it would do you fine.

Thank you for your help again!

Could you please tell me if the following is Deepeeka and whether or not it is the "new" version if it is? If it is not is it any good?

Not deepeeka, but looks okay... no rolled edge on bottom of torso section, but we would allow this in Legio VI

Thanks again! Is the black leather accurate or should it be brown? Is there a debate on that aspect? I have been told by the seller of this piece that it is Swordsmart made, anyone know this company? Is it same quality as Deepeeka?

Ok, the back on this is just wrong, I thought this was a different Lorica, but the back (which is pictured as the front) should NOT have external leathers, and I think that is an archeologically backed complaint. Make sure the one you order is the one in the second set of pics and not that one with the external leather back.

I would not allow the lorica in the link posted by Innis in the R.M.R.S. The shoulder guards are too small and the hinges appears to be converted modern hinges.

I've seen this lorica before. A member of legio XXX bought one and it had to be extensively rebuilt befor he could wear it. The curved back plates had to be straightened out. I do not know who makes it. Definitely an item to be avoided.

The Lorica pictured here is not from Deepeeka. These pictured are sold (or advertised anyway) frequently on eBay by seller 'sussen'.
