Information on Roman Leather Tent Construction Requested

I am looking for some detailed information on the construction of Roman leather tents. How were the leather panels lapped and stitched? I assume they were lapped "shingle fashion" from top to bottom, but what about from side to side? Were they lapped, butted or otherwise joined? What did they use to stitch the leather panels together?
